Gymnasts improve team score

Jan. 11, 2012 | 0 comments

The gymnastic team hosted Manitowoc in their first conference meet of the season.

Manitowoc came out strong with a team score of 125.225 compared to Clintonville's 103.375. The team was not disappointed though because this was over five points higher than their best score this season and the same score that they ended the season with last year.

A lot of the increased points came from uneven bars. Wendy Jensen improved her score by 1.4 pts. for a personal best of 4.05. Tisha Kenfield added a kip to her routine which is a required skill and improved her execution. With these changes she increased her score by 1.9 for a personal best of 5.65. Destiny Pelky has been working hard on this event and was added to the lineup for the first time. Amber Krueger keeps improving for a personal best of 5.15. Rachel Wisneski led the team on the event scoring a 6.0. Krueger led the team on beam, placing 4th with a 7.325, (personal best), against division 1 Manitowoc. Wisneski followed close behind with a no fall routine (hit) scoring 6.95 (personal best). Kenfield had a 6.7. Jensen also had a hit scoring, a 5.95. Krueger led in vault as well with a 7.5, Jensen had 6.3, Pelky 6.65, Kenfield 7.0, and Wisneski 7.25.

Three team members had personal bests on floor: Jensen 6.05, Krueger 7.25 and Wisneski had a season high of 6.95.

The floor routines are doing very well. Three routines have full difficulty and are only missing one event requirement. The girls jumps are superiors and their combinations are looking very good. We had three all arounders (on all 4 events) score season highs or personal bests. Kenfield: 26.3, Wisneski: 27.15 and Krueger: 27.225. We are looking forward to continuing to improve so we can show our skills during the Trucker Invite on January 21. Clintonville will host six schools at the High School Field House beginning at 10:15 a.m. We would like to invite all former gymnasts to attend so we can recognize them during the meet.
