Gymnasts win first meet
Clintonville gymnasts traveled to Kaukauna this week to pull out their first win of the season.
Kaukauna scored 93.35 to Clintonville's 98 points. The biggest highlight was Rachel Wisneski placing first on floor with 7.25 and first on all around with 27.6 (her season high score). Wisneski had great jumps and leaps on floor and her tumbling passes where very smooth.
Besides floor, Rachel also had a great bar routine taking second place with a 5.975. Her two back to back kips were the best this season and she had no steps on her landing (called = stuck).
The team gave up only .1 on their landings with 4 of the 5 girls sticking theirs. Wisneski also had her season high vault with a 7.825 handspring good for second place.
Tisha Kenfield and Amber Krueger also had a great night. Tisha placed third on bars with 4.675, third on floor with 7.075, fourth on beam (5.325) and fifth on vault with a season high of 7.625. Her floor routine had great jumps and she hit her double handstand pirouette that is a high superior skill. Krueger took second on beam with her season best of 6.775. She successfully completed two back walkovers connected to her back tuck dismount and stuck the landing. On floor, she took third with 7.075. Krueger also placed fourth on both vault (7.675) and bars (4.3). Her ¼ ¼ vault was the highest score twisting vault on the team. Amber also added an event required kip to her bar routine this meet. Krueger's all-around score of 25.575 earned her third place.
Wendy Jensen executed her uneven bar routine with great form and was one of the 4 that stuck the landing on her dismount. Jensen is very consistent and is continually working on her execution.
Destiny Pelky keeps improving. She has only done all 4 events twice but her all-around score went up. Her strength and determination has increased and she is picking up on new skills quickly.
The Truckers next meet is their Trucker Invitational on Jan. 21, starting at 10:15 a.m. at the High School Field House.
