Indians fall to Pacelli Cardinals
Gaining yards wasn't a problem Friday, Oct. 7, for the Weyauwega-Fremont football team.
Putting points on the scoreboard and giving up big plays on defense was a different story, however.
The Indians came out on the short end of a 32-13 score to Stevens Point Pacelli to drop to 0-6 in Central Wisconsin 8 Conference play and 1-7 overall.
W-F took an early lead, as Trevor Potratz tossed a 45-yard pass to the Indians' former starting quarterback, Calvin Swanson. However, the Cardinals scored the game's next five touchdowns.
Jacob Feltz caught a 57-yard scoring pass from Adam Kluck in the first quarter; Mike Fuller scored from 5 yards out and Cody Duranceau added an 18-yard TD run in the second quarter; and Fuller and Duranceau helped seal the win in the third quarter with 54- and 68-yard TD runs.
Potratz scored from a yard out in the third quarter for the game's final touchdown.
The Indians outgained the Cardinals 162-149 on the ground and 253-161 through the air.
Hunter Billington led the Indians with 82 rushing yards on 20 carries, while Austin Ferge added 63 yards in 13 attempts.
Swanson caught six passes for 138 to lead W-F receivers, while Treg DeSantis added seven catches for 115 yards.
Jordan Haase led the W-F defense with 11 tackles, while Alex Togstad chipped in with six and Jake Radtke, Potratz and Dustin Hanes added four each.
