The Lady Bulldog basketball team got off to a hot start against the Waupaca Comets on Tuesday, Nov. 29, and never looked back. At the final horn, the score was 69-30 in favor of New London.
Bridget Pethke and Morgan Steinert led the Bulldogs in scoring with 14 points each. Tara Knapstein added six, while Megan Schlieve, Emily Steffanus, Alexa Roland and Heather Paalman all added four. Coral Managan chipped in three, while Michaela Roland scored two.
Knapstein was the leading rebounder, pulling down six boards. Paalman grabbed five, while Schlieve and Pethke each tallied four.
The Lady Bulldogs used a relentless full-court press and suffocating defense to create 22 Waupaca turnovers. Pethke had five steals, while Brenna Heise and Steinert had three.
New London also earned an advantage at the free throw line, sinking 12 of 22 attempts.
The Lady Bulldogs play at home on Monday, Dec. 19 against Shawano at 7:15 p.m.
