Lady Bulldogs remain undefeated
The Bulldogs overwhelmed the Hawks Monday, Dec. 19, as they outscored Shawano 27-2 in the first quarter and took a 39-2 lead into halftime.
Shawano never challenged New London, and the Bulldogs came away with a 73-8 victory.
Tara Knapstein scored 16 to lead New London, while Bridget Pethke and Emily Steffanus both scored 11. Coral Managan scored seven, as did Michaela Roland. Morgan Steinert added six, while Brenna Heise and Heather Paalman both scored four. Megan Schlieve added three points. Steffanus, Pethke, Knapstein and Managan all hit 3-point shots.
The Lady Bulldogs were 5 of 9 from the free throw line.
"We were able to establish our defensive pressure from the start, which led to some easy baskets on the offensive end," said Coach Troy Krause. "The girls came in focused to play a complete game on defense and I believe they accomplished their goal."
The Lady Bulldogs have three away games to start 2012, but will play at home on Tuesday, Jan. 17 against Oconto Falls. Opening tip is set for 7:15 p.m.
