A rough-and-tumble Eastern Valley Conference matchup between the Clintonville Truckers and the Winneconne Wolves ended in a 50-42 victory for the hosting Truckers.
The Truckers were ahead 17-13 after one quarter and 29-22 at halftime. Winneconne's defense tightened up in the second half, as the Wolves scored 12 in the third quarter and the Truckers scored 13. Both teams scored eight in the final frame.
Stacy Reinke led the Truckers with 15 points, while Dayna Seymour scored 11. Steph Pinno poured in nine points, and Brittany Hoffman added seven. Hailey Sorenson and Markiesa Westphal both scored four.
The Truckers shot 17 of 43 from the field (39 percent) and made no 3-point shots in seven attempts. The team made 16 of 23 (69 percent) from the free throw line.
Clintonville pulled down 30 rebounds and had 10 steals with 23 turnovers.
"We picked up the intensity in practice which helped us secure the win tonight," said Coach Jennifer Soldner. "The girls worked hard and kept the lead throughout the entire game. Dayna Seymour grabbed some key steals tonight to start a few big runs for us. Steph Pinno did an excellent job knocking down free throws, going 5 for 6 from the line."
The Lady Truckers play at home on Friday, Jan. 6, against Waupaca. Opening tip is set for 7:15 p.m.
