Last-second basket lifts Bonduel over W-F boys
The Weyauwega-Fremont boys' basketball team came up two points short against undefeated Bonduel Friday, Dec. 16, in a Central Wisconsin 8 Conference matchup.
Spencer Froemming's basket with 2 seconds to go broke a 47-47 tie and gave the Bears a 49-47 win over the Indians.
W-F trailed 13-4 after one quarter and 21-15 at halftime before outscoring Bonduel 20-10 in the third quarter to take a 35-31 lead into the final period.
The Bears outscored the Indians 18-12 over the final eight minutes.
Tanner Ross led the Indians with 16 points, including 10 in the second half. Bryce Behn and Calvin Swanson added nine each for W-F, while Treg DeSantis finished with eight.
Logan Artis led Bonduel with 16 points.
The Indians traveled to New London for a nonconference Tuesday, Nov. 20, and will head to the Wrightstown Invitational Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 27-28. W-F will resume conference play Friday, Jan. 6, at Stevens Point Pacelli.
