T-Birds come up short in Rapids
State-ranked Wisconsin Rapids Assumption handed the Iola-Scandinavia girls' basketball team a 54-31 loss Thursday, Dec. 29, in a nonconference matchup on the Royals' home court.
Assumption, the third-ranked team in Division 5 in the latest Associated Press state poll, led 9-3 after one quarter, 26-11 at halftime and 40-21 after three quarters.
Brooke Phillips led the Thunderbirds with eight points, while Karina Welch finished with a team-high 10 rebounds.
The T-Birds wrapped up a stretch of three straight nonconference road games Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Tigerton and will return to Central Wisconsin 8 Conference play Friday, Jan. 6, at Manawa.
