Three Waupaca wrestlers go unbeaten
It was an up-and-down week for the Waupaca Comet wrestling team.
The Comets posted a 1-4 mark Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Akey Duals in Weyauwega and picked up their second Eastern Valley Conference dual win two days earlier with a 42-30 decision over Fox Valley Lutheran.
Akey Duals
WEYAUWEGA - Stratford won the six-team tournament with a 5-0 mark, followed by Weyauwega-Fremont (4-1), Chilton (3-2) and Waupaca, Ripon and Fox Valley Lutheran (1-4).
Levi Petroske (132), Connor Avery (145) and Seth Deuman (220) went unbeaten at the tournament.
The Comets' only win on the day came over Ripon, 51-27. Their losses came to Stratford (54-18), Chilton (42-33), FVL (42-36) and W-F (48-33).

WAUPACA - The Comets won four of the first five contested matches to improve to 2-0 in EVC duals.
Ben Leonard handed A.J. Olsen a 12-9 loss at 106, Kelly Lind needed only 58 seconds to pin Jordan Fischer at 126, Joe Selsing beat Chase Maxwell 6-4 at 138 and Avery pinned Anthony Rhoades in 3:10 at 145.
The Foxes' wins came from Brandon Mumford's pin of Austin Gonyou at 113 in 55 seconds, Nick Mathison's pin of Mitch Molder at 152 in 1:27, Sebastion Christensen's pin of Tom Phillipson at 160 in 1:25 and Ethan Schneider's pin of Mike Hagen at 170 in 56 seconds.
Waupaca's Dalton Stelzner (120), Petroske (132), Deuman (220) and Logan Feldt (285) each won by forfeit, as did FVL's Joel Robbert (182).
Waupaca will head to Ripon tonight (Thursday, Dec. 15) for an EVC dual before hosting Little Chute Thursday, Dec. 22.
