Turnover bug hits W-F girls
Twenty-three turnovers helped keep the Weyauwega-Fremont girls' basketball team from picking up its first win of the season.
The Indians outscored Columbus 21-10 in the fourth quarter, but still fell to Columbus 53-47 in a nonconference matchup Friday, Dec. 9.
The Cardinals led 22-11 after one quarter, 29-17 at halftime and 43-26 after three quarters.
Mariah Hulbert led the Indians with 13 points, while Bailey Kapitzke and Macey Schoenick finished with 11 each. Angie Miller led Columbus with 16 points.
"We trailed by 18 with 5:30 to play and cut the lead to six, but came up short," coach Joe Titus said. "We did some good things, but 23 turnovers and second-chance points hurt us."
The Indians opened Central Wisconsin 8 Conference play Tuesday, Dec. 13, at home and will head to Bonduel Friday, Dec. 16, for a CWC-8 game with the Bears.
