Vande Vrede and Johnson place fourth
Joe Vande Vrede and Casey Johnson each finished in fourth place in their weight classes at the Willard Schmidt Scramble. The event took place in Green Bay on Saturday, Dec. 17.
Vande Vrede, wrestling in the 182 pound class, received a bye in the first two rounds and then pinned Dan Nicholson of Green Bay Preble/East in the fourth round. In the Championship Bracket he was pinned by Jake Stremkowski of Stevens Point. He was also pinned i the Third Place Match by Lucas Stephenson of Sturgeon Bay to finish fourth.
Johsnon, wrestling in the 195 pound class, received a bye in in the first round and then pinned Artan Rushiti of Milton in the second round. He won the third round match by pinning Grant Maurer of Chilton. Johnson lost the Championship Bracket match by a 6-2 decision against Dan Dorner of Luxemburg-Casco. He then lost the Third Place Match after being pinned by Jackson Stearns of Weyauwega-Fremont.
Jacob Frenche placed 14th in the 126 pound class.
Brad Grimm placed 15th in the 132 pound class.
Christian Bertram placed eighth in the 138 pound class.
Garret Griffin placed fifth in the 152 pound class.
Ian VanRossum placed 13th in the 170 pound class.
Cole Thompson placed 11th in the 220 pound class.
Cody Wildenburg placed seventh in the 285 pound class.
