Waupaca boys seventh, girls eighth at conference meet
Clintonville set a pair of records Saturday, May 12, at the Eastern Valley Conference Meet in Freedom.
Waupaca didn't break any records, but did return home with a handful of top-five finishes.
The Comets' Macie Davidson placed second in the girls' 400-meter dash and long jump; Alisa Blank was second in the 300-meter hurdles; and Zach Wheeler was second and fourth in the boys' 3,200- and 1,600-meter runs, respectively.
Thirds went to Taylor Davidson in the girls' 100-meter dash; Max Carr in the boys' 300 hurdles; and Bryan White in the boys' shot put.
Fifths went to Justin Johnson in the boys' 100; Macie Davidson in the 200-meter dash; and the boys' 400- and 800-meter relay teams.
The boys' 1,600-meter relay placed sixth, while sevenths went to the girls' 800 and 1,600 relay teams and Johnson in the boys' high jump.
Eighths went to Taylor Fabricius in the girls' 3,200; Carr in the boys' long jump; James Camann in the boys' triple jump; the boys' and girls' 3,200 relay teams; and the girls' 400 relay team.
Clintonville's Dominic Masiarchin set a new meet record with a 22.15 time in the boys' 200 and also placed first in the 100 and 400. The girls' 3,200 relay team of Brianna Gretzinger, Ana Huber, Ali Johnson and Samantha Hohn turned in a record time of 9:54.04.
The first-place finishes helped the Clintonville boys and girls' place fourth and third, respectively. The Waupaca boys placed seventh, while the Comet girls were eighth.
Kyle Petermann also had a big day for Clintonville, as he won the boys' shot put and discus events. Other firsts for the Truckers went to Chrissy Betz in the girls' 100-meter hurdles and Markiesa Westphal in the girls' shot put.
Seconds went to Tyler Sawall in the boys' 1,600-meter run, Allison Johnson in the girls' high jump and Lauren Pugh in the girls' pole vault.
Thirds went to John Klemp in the boys' pole vault, Alicia Moon in the girls' pole vault and Hohn in the girls' 3,200-meter run.
Fourths went to Pugh in the girls' 100-meter hurdles, the girls' 1,600-meter relay team and Betz in the girls' pole vault.
Fifths went to Johnson in the girls' 400 and Sawall in the boys' 3,200.
Sixths went to the boys' 3,200 relay team; Trenten Gauthier in the boys' 110-meter hurdles; and Sara Messner in the girls' 800- and 1,600-meter runs.
Sevenths went to Huber in the girls' 300-meter hurdles, Gretzinger in the girls' 800 and Travis Eanone in the boys' pole vault.
Eighths went to Carmen Johnson in the girls' high jump (tie), Brady Persha in the boys' pole vault and Huber in the girls' triple jump.
The Comets will compete Monday, May 21, in the Division 1 Stevens Regional, with events slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. Sectional qualifiers will advance to the Ashwaubenon Sectional Thursday, May 24.
