Weyauwega-Fremont trailed at halftime, but came back to knock off North Fond du Lac 56-49 Thursday, Dec. 22, in a nonconference girls' basketball team.

The Indians also handed Wautoma a 58-29 loss Tuesday, Dec. 20.

NORTH FOND DU LAC - The Orioles held a slim 13-12 lead heading into the second quarter and added to their lead with a 15-9 advantage in the second quarter.

The Indians held the Orioles to two points in the third quarter to take a 35-30 lead heading into the fourth quarter and outscored the home team 21-19 over the final eight minutes.

"We played a very tough North Fond du Lac team with good shooters and a post player averaging better than 17 points per game," coach Joel Titus said. "Going into the second half down seven points, we made some defensive adjustments that gave up only two free throws in the entire third quarter."

Ellen Schroeder came off of the bench to lead the Indians with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Mariah Hulbert and Bailey Kapitzke chipped in with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

"As a group, we are starting to understand what it means to be a teammate," Titus said.

WEYAUWEGA - Dani Austreng had a big night offensively for the Indians with 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists a blocked shot and no turnovers in a win over the Hornets.

The Indians led 20-8 after one quarter, 32-18 at halftime and 47-22 after three quarters.

Hulbert had 14 points, while Jenni Hellweg added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Indians.

"Sydney DeSantis and Macey Schoenick both had great defensive games that helped keep the Hornets to under 20-percent shooting," Titus said. "Ellen Schroeder had nine rebounds, including six offensive, and Maggie Knecht and Bailey Kapitzke each hit threes as each player on the team scored against a stingy Wautoma defense."

The Indians are at the Marathon Invitational Wednesday, Dec. 28, and today (Thursday, Dec. 29) and will return to Central Wisconsin 8 Conference play Friday, Jan. 6, by hosting Stevens Point Pacelli.
