Wolves grapplers come up short
The Wolves fell to Tri-County/Almond Bancroft, losing a 40-15 contest.
Christian Bertram lost 11-3 at 145 pounds, while Garret Griffin pinned his opponent in 5:44 at 152 pounds. At 195 pounds, Casey Johnson pinned his opponent in 1:41. Cody Wildenburg earned a 17-16 decision at 285 pounds. Jacob Frenche wrestled at 132 pounds and was pinned in 3:26.
The Wolves gave up forfeits at 160 pounds, 170 pounds, 182 pounds, 220 pounds, and 120 pounds. Double forfeits occurred at 106, 113, 126 and 138 pounds.
"We are still a young team and have several athletes that will begin wrestling next week," said Coach John Peterson. "The wrestlers that did compete showed a lot of intensity and were also able to get the nervousness of their first match out of the way. The wrestlers from both teams were aggressive on the mat, but showed great sportsmanship during and after the competition."
