Poris, Rose L.

Rose L. “Tooty” Poris, of Waupaca, age 76, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 22, 2010. She was born in Shawano, WI, on February 27, 1934 to Leonard “Shorty” and Dorothy (Fischer) Hartwig. On May 7, 1955 she was united in marriage to John Poris. Rose was employed with Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah as an EEG Technician. She volunteered at the Wisconsin Veterans Home for over 10 years, and along with her husband, volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she enjoyed making ornaments for her family and friends. Rose also had a love for animals. She will be sadly missed by her husband, John; daughters: Peggy (Gary) Marta and Barbara (Kelly) Lehl; son: Robert (Laurie) Poris; grandchildren: Stacey (Matt) Jenson, Steven (Meghan) Lehl and Kristy Lee; great-grandson, Owen Jenson; sister, Carol Yaeger; brother, Floyd Hartwig; brother-in-law, James Soufal; as well as many nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Poris, parents, Leonard and Dorothy Hartwig; in-laws, George Poris and Sophie Poris-Hewitt; sisters-in-law: Catherine Soufal and Valda Hartwig; and a brother-in-law, Herman Yaeger. The Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2010 at Calvary Lutheran Church, E1887 King Rd., Waupaca with Pastor Martin Rich officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial of ashes will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King. The Maple Crest Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff of the Chemotherapy Department at Riverside Medical Center, Affinity Visiting Nurses and Ministry Homecare Hospice.
