Another school year is right around the corner, which means practice will soon begin for Waupaca High School’s fall sports teams.
The girls’ golf and boys’ soccer teams and cheerleading squad will hold their first practice Monday, Aug. 9. The golf team will meet at 7 a.m. at the Waupaca Country Club, while the varsity, junior varsity and freshman soccer teams will meet at 9 a.m. in the school lobby. The cheerleading squad will meet at 3 p.m. in the school lobby.
Varsity, JV and freshman football players can pick up equipment Aug. 9 at the school. Seniors and letterwinners should report from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., juniors from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., sophomores from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and freshmen from 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m.
All three teams will hold their first practice at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at the school.
Cross country and volleyball practice begins Monday, Aug. 16. Cross country runners will meet at 8 a.m. in the school wrestling/fitness room, while varsity, JV and freshman volleyball players will meet at 3 p.m. in the school gym.
Parents who did not attend the fall sports meeting in late July need to watch a video of the meeting before their child can participate in sports. The video can be viewed from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays in the school office.
“All forms from the presentation will need to be signed an filled out,” WHS athletic director Carl Eggebrecht said. “We recommend that these forms are turned in at lest a few days prior to the first day of practice.”
Athletes are asked to report to the school office 45 minutes prior to their first practice to make sure all sport-related information has been turned in and cleared.
“If you did not have a concussion test last year, you should report to the main office one hour prior to receiving your equipment or the time your practice will begin,” Eggebrecht said.
