Crop Walk set for Sept. 26

The Annual Clintonville/Marion CROP Walk will be hosted by Christus Lutheran Church on Sunday, Sept. 26. Registration will be at 1 p.m. with the Walk at 1:30 p.m.

Christian Churches in the USA organize 2000+ Crop Walks every year involving the participation of some 3,000 communities nationwide. Church World Service will return 25 percent of fund raised from the Crop Walk to the Clintonville and Marion Food Pantries. A total of 75 percent less a low administrative overhead cost of 6 to 8 percent is used by Church World Service in relief and development assistance programs in the USA and in more than 80 countries.

Participants solicit pledges for walking 1, 2 or 6 miles or can pledge themselves. The use of skateboards, rollerblades and other wheels is not permitted for safety reasons. Bikers will not be covered by the Crop Walk insurance. Handicapped people in wheelchairs and families with baby strollers and pet dogs are welcome. Light refreshments and fellowship in Christus Parish Hall will follow the walk.

The Clintonville community has had annual Crop Walks for over 20 years. The goal for this years Crop Walk is to raise $5,000 with over 100 participants. Other communities in Wisconsin have set the goal to raise an average amount of $100 per participant. All are invited to walk and to pledge.

The Youth group with the highest amount in donations will receive a free pizza party.
