Scandy Fire Department proposes tanker purchase

A new tanker for the Scandinavia Fire Department was discussed by the Scandinavia Town Board at its July 12 meeting.

Fire Chief Dell Mork reported on the prospective purchase of a tanker truck chassis. The fire department is considering purchasing a 2005 Freightliner with 118,000 miles and 3,500 hours on the hour meter. The price for the chassis is $28,529. An estimated additional $10,000 will be required for customization.

In other business, Chairman Gary Marx reported that the Planning Commission discussed the new Waupaca County Zoning Ordinance.

The board agreed to table discussion of a possible contact with the Humane Society of Waupaca County until budget review time.

The county Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance was reviewed and discussed. Public hearings will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 13 on the Preferred Land Use Map, existing Land Division Ordinance and the county-adopted Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance. The hearings will be held at the Scandinavia Municipal Center.

The board denied a request to use the Municipal Center’s meeting room on Thursdays after the coffee group for the purpose of collaborating on computer topics. It was felt that the library would be a more suitable place for the group to meet.
