Waupaca man faces child porn charges

Dale Yelich, 54, Waupaca, was charged Aug. 12 with three counts of possession of child pornography. He is also charged with maintaining a drug-trafficking place and is accused of growing marijuana in his apartment.

While investigating the Gnutella Network, looking for Internet Protocol addresses that share child pornography, Manawa Police Officer Paul Benzschawel found evidence that led him to suspect Yelich.

On July 29, the court issued a subpoena to Charter Communications, then issued a search warrant for Yelich’s apartment. According to the criminal complaint, police found images with girls appearing to be under the age of 13.

Police also reported finding two marijuana plants growing in the apartment.

Yelich faces up to three years in prison if convicted of possession of child pornography.
