Community foundation awards nearly $80,000 in grants

The Waupaca Area Community Foundation (WACF) has approved $79,909 in grants from its general fund, nearly tripling the previous record amount awarded.

The grants will benefit 24 charitable organizations serving people in the Waupaca area. The grant checks will be presented during WACF’s annual meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the Holly History and Genealogy Center. The public is invited.

“Thanks to generous contributions from people who supported our spring gala, and additional dollars from other endowment funds for unrestricted grant making, our board was delighted to be able to offer this much higher level of support to local organizations during a time of great need,” said Jack Rhodes, WACF board chairman.

WACF’s previous record high for grants was the $27,200 awarded in 2009.
