Foxes shut out Waupaca

Defending Division 2 state champion Fox Valley Lutheran is apparently one of the boys’ soccer teams to beat this year in the Eastern Valley Conference.

The Foxes handed Waupaca an 8-0 defeat Aug. 26 in Appleton. Waupaca also fell to Wausau Newman 4-2 Aug. 24 in a nonconference matchup.

The Foxes scored five goals in the first half and added three in the second. Goalkeeper Tyler Kelly had 17 saves for Waupaca.

A 3-0 halftime deficit was too much for the Comets to overcome.

Adam Kaminske put Waupaca on the board midway through the second half off of an assist from Stewart Miller and Hunter Bailey added an unassisted goal with five minutes remaining.

The Comets fell to 1-3-1 with the losses and will host Pulaski at 7 tonight (Thursday) before hosting Appleton Xavier at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7.
