Gov. Jim Doyle recently signed a $900,000 contract to improve 6.5 miles of State Highway 22/54 from Harrington Road in Waupaca to the intersection of State Highways 22 and 54 in Waupaca County.
Construction is scheduled to begin on Sept. 13.
Northeast Asphalt Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will resurface the road with asphalt.
During construction, State 22 will remain open to traffic. Motorists can expect to encounter daytime flagging operations.
Construction is scheduled for completion in late October.
Eighty percent of the project will be paid for with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid for with state transportation funds.
