Rockets fly high

The St. Martin girls volleyball team opened their season on Sept. 7 at Sacred Heart of Shawano.

The C Team pulled out their first victory, 25-14, 25-27, 25-12. Coach Amber Anderson declared, “We improved a lot from practice. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season holds for this wonderful group of girls!”

The B Team exploded upon the Cardinals, 25-15, 25-23, 25-10. Abby Krueger served up 10 service points, including eight aces. Tiffany Bricco also slammed 10 service points. Coach Donna Jobke concluded, “Abby Krueger had awesome, consistent serves. Caitie Carpenter had a heads-up tip for a point. We had a few three-hit series on our side resulting in points. Nice job ladies!”

The A Team girls tried but couldn’t pull out a win, 25-27, 25-20, 20-25, 13-25. Jade Czarnecki led the team with 11 service points and eight aces, followed up by Amber Krueger with 11 service points and four aces. Coach Jamie Kriewaldt stated, “The girls put forth a great effort in their first three games but seemed to run out of energy in their fourth game. We have much work to do before Friday’s match against Redeemer, but overall the team looked good for their first match. I have confidence that we can pull things together and come out stronger in the games to come!”

On Friday, Sept. 10, the St. Martin Girls Volleyball team traveled to Green Bay to take on their opponent, Redeemer.

The C Team girls dazzled the crowd as they won their first two games, 25-15, and 25-11, but lost the third one 21-25. Coach Anderson proudly exclaimed, “The girls worked well together tonight and our serving is coming around. It’s going to be a great season!”

The B Team ladies clobbered their opponent in all three games, 25-12, 25-20, and 25-5. Tiffany Bricco led the fight with 13 service points, and Jessie Barker contributed seven service points, while Abby Wagenson helped in that department also. Coach Jobke complimented, “Serves were awesome! We wanted to work on three-hit series but did not get the opportunity. Nice job of cheering on the team tonight!”

The A Team girls blew past the Eagles, winning all three games. The scores were 25-10, 25-14, and 25-11. Amber Krueger ran the show with 12 service points, Jade Czarnecki nailed eight service points and five aces, and Gabby Goerlinger followed close behind with six service points. Coach Kriewaldt happily expressed, “The girls did an excellent job serving tonight! They also played well as a team and had some great three-hit series. Chrissy Betz led the team in hits with four, while Jade Czarnecki and Autumn Voigt added two hits each. Great game ladies!”

The Rockets take on St. James of Shawano Tuesday, Sept. 14at home, and Friday they will host Pilgrim of Green Bay at 4:15 p.m.
