ILA employees hit a safety milestone

Employees at Iola Living Assistance have hit a milestone. They have gone more than five years without a lost time work accident.

ILA employees are very serious about safety. Many of them participate in the safety committee and help develop programs such as the Low Lift program. The goal is to reduce or eliminate employee injuries. Back and shoulder strains are very common in the long-term care industry because staff frequently assist residents with activities of daily living.

Employees have gone over five years without a lost time work accident. This translates directly into lower workers’ compensation premiums.

“We have literally saved thousands of dollars,” stated ILA employee Linda Bunsen.

Employees are rewarded with treats and sometimes cash for their efforts.
