Van Ornum, Lloyd

Lloyd Van Ornum, age 89, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2010. Lloyd was born on June 22, 1931, in Royalton, son of the late Will and Lany (Miller) Van Ornum. On Feb. 16, 1946, he was united in marriage to Lenora Hall in Ashland, KY. Lloyd attended Oshkosh University. He served in the US Army as a non commissioned officer and was a 4 year combat veteran of the North African campaign during WWII. He was an active member of Federated Church of Berlin, serving as moderator for two terms, Sunday school teacher and choir member transferring membership to First Congregational United Church of Christ, New London. He also served 50 years as a 32nd Degree Mason. Lloyd worked for Associate Milk Producer for 38 years as a supervisor and also owned a farm in Berlin for 34 years; before moving to New London on June 12, 1990. He spent his winter months in Zephyrhills, FL. He is survived by his wife, Lenora; a daughter, Lisa (Michael) Gari, Tampa FL; a son, Les (Helen) Van Ornum, Hortonville; a sister, Joyce Freiburger, Royalton. Grandchildren: Adam and Astin Kowaleski; Tim, Tyler, Jake and Mitch Van Ornum and Trisa (Laine) Handrich. Great-grandchildren: Blaze and Brielle Handrich and Emma, Ava, Josh and Abby Van Ornum. Funeral services for Lloyd were held on Thursday, September 23, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregation United Church of Christ, New London with Rev. Greg Watling officiating. Burial was in the Northport Ostrander Cemetery, Military Rites were held. Visitation was at the church Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
