Indians take three of four from Falcons

The Weyauwega-Fremont volleyball team picked up a Central Wisconsin 8 Conference win Sept., 28 by taking three of four games from Amherst.

Amherst opened the match with a 25-17 win in the first game, but the Indians rebounded by winning the next three, 25-18, 25-15, 25-16.

“We started off slow, putting up easy sets that didn’t throw off their big middle at all,” coach Rena Tomaszewski said. “When we decided to speed up our offense, we started to take control of the match and played much better ball.”

Team leaders included Kate Wieters with 30 assists and nine service points, including two aces; Rachel Knecht with two aces; Teal Tomaszewski with 27 digs; Dacia Goetsch with four block kills; and Bailey Kapitske with 19 kills with a .411 hitting percentage.

The Indians hosted Manawa Tuesday and will open conference pool play Saturday. The Indians will close out the regular season Thursday, Oct. 14, with a nonconference home match against Waupaca.
