Lady Truckers unlucky against Irish, Wolves

The Clintonville High School girls volleyball team fell to the Freedom Irish on Oct. 12, by scores of 15-25, 21-25 and 24-26.

Erin Richter led Clintonville with eight kills, while Nikki Kautz added 18 assists and Karena Schroeder had 13 digs.

“Freedom and Clintonville were tied for third in the conference coming into the game, but even that motivation could not get the girls going like they usually do,” said Coach Katie Ripley. “They played so awesome last week against Xavier but that team last week and the team tonight were not the same team. They had no spark and they gave Freedom way to many free balls. It was a let down. This should have been one of the best games of our season. Hopefully we can get past this and move on quickly.”

The Clintonville Lady Trucker varsity volleyball team played at Winneconne for their last conference game of 2010 and lost in four games by scores of 17-25, 25-23, 21-25 and 23-25.

Erin Richter had eight kills, three ace serves and five block kills to pace the Lady Truckers. Stacy Rienke added 13 kills and six ace serves, while Brittany Hoffman tacked on nine kills. Nikki Kautz contributed 30 assists.

“I think the streak of losses that we are having my be because ever since the Xavier game when the girls played so well they are afraid to lose,” said Coach Katie Ripley. “They are not hitting the ball as they were and they are just playing scared instead of playing hard like they were. Hopefully we can get past this by next week as Regionals start and we can get into playing a little more forceful, as before.”
