Team raises $4,800 for Children’s Hospital

New London High School Art Teacher Tracey Johnson is thankful for the care her premature twins received at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee.

Parker and Paytyn are now 7 months old and weigh 19 pounds each, complete with soft, squishy baby rolls.

Johnson was put on bed rest at 22 weeks and then hospital bed rest at 24 weeks.

“I almost delivered at 24 weeks. I was able to incubate my babies for another four weeks and our children were born at 28 weeks gestation,” recalls Johnson.

She was in ICU for a week, hard of breath and filling with fluid. “I fought for my life and for the life of my babies.”

After spending two long months at the NICU in Neenah, she was able to bring her babies home. Johnson is back to work and thankful for the dedicated staff and outstanding facilities that Children’s Hospital provided.

“When I heard of the Run/Walk for Children’s Hospital, I wanted to be a part of it, and my family and friends jumped on board.”

The Parker and Paytyn Team participated Oct. 9 in the 33rd Briggs & Al’s Run & Walk for Children’s Hospital. Over $1 million was raised.

Their team participated not only for the Johnson and Voight family, but for the families the hospital has helped before them and the families they will help in the future. The team is thankful for everyone’s donations, including the Bear Creek Lions Club and Sara Lee.
