United Way seeks $70,000

The Waupaca Area United Way launched its 2010-11 fundraising campaign.

The group’s board of directors announced has set a goal of $70,000 to help support the needs of local charities and non-profit organizations.

More than 8,000 letters will be mailed to local residents and businesses in the coming weeks asking for their support.

“Non-profit organizations rely on community support in order to provide their valuable services. Writing one check to United Way is an easy way to help a wide variety of worthy causes,” said United Way President Paul Lehman.

According to Lehman, last year the United Way provided funding to about 30 local organizations, including the Salvation Army, the Waupaca Area Red Cross, Waupaca Miracle Tree, Community Care Ministry, Bread Basket and many others.

“As much as possible, the money raised here, stays here, to fund local organizations,” Lehman said, “Your one gift supports many worthy causes. Please be generous.”

Donations can be sent to the Waupaca Area United Way, P.O. Box 94, Waupaca, WI 54981.
