Peterson resigns from Scandinavia Town Board

The resignation of town supervisor Donald Peterson was accepted by the Scandinavia Town Board at its Oct. 11 meeting.

Peterson will step down effective Dec. 31. Expressing interest in filling the position were Frank Bauer, Jr., and Bryan Fuhs.

Fire Chief Dell Mork reported that the Scandinavia Fire Department’s new tanker truck is being painted and the tank is being transferred. Another truck in the fleet is being serviced for engine problems.

Town Clerk Jennifer Glad presented a letter from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources officially recognizing Brekke Lake Association, Inc. as a qualified lake association.

Chairman Gary Marx reported on the Cooperative Landfill Ordinance. All five town chairmen recently met as a group to discuss and propose changes to the draft of the ordinance.

Marx reported he talked to the town of Iola about adjusting wage from $12-$15 per hour for tractor maintenance/mower position. The adjustment is subject to budget approval.

Road report: Bestul Road will be filled in with gravel in some spots this fall; widening and resurfacing is scheduled for summer 2011. Fall mowing on town roads was also discussed.

In other business, the board

? Approved the land use map.

? Released Gary Jacobson from the town’s employ as zoning deputy.

? Adopted Resolution #2010-4 to repeal land division ordinance previously adopted by the township on Jan. 16, 2008.
