Christopher W. Yakitch, 34, Waupaca, was charged Nov. 16 with misdemeanor battery, disorderly conduct, strangulation and false imprisonment.
On Nov. 14, a woman living on the 600 block of West Union Street told Waupaca Police Officer Diana Flatoff that Yakitch had thrown her into the refrigerator, grabbed her by the throat and choked her after accusing her of stealing his wallet and money.
When the woman tried to get away from Yakitch, he allegedly refused to let her leave. She reported that she went out a side door.
