Holiday events in New London

St. Joseph Residence Auxiliary will host a Love Light Tree Lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 at the Division St. entrance of the nursing home.

Mayor Gary Henke will light the tree and the New London High School Band will provide holiday music. St. Joseph residents will enjoy a holiday reception while those who rough the seasonal cold weather are welcome to follow the school bus to New London Area Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday of Wonder parade in downtown New London. The band will reassemble on Wisconsin St. and perform more music for the community as they lead the parade down North Water Street to St. John’s Street to disengage behind First State Bank.

The parade has over 25 entries this year! Crowd favorites include the Madrigal singers from Waupaca, Emanuel Lutheran’s Live Nativity, R Sports 4 U holiday characters, the Rendezvous buck skinners, a Fire On Ice float from Weyauwega, and girls ribbon dancing. Others to watch for include the Cub Scouts, Build-A-Bear, and 10 other new entries.

After the parade, join the live nativity in Taft Park for Christmas Carols and the true story of Christmas.
