Prey, Lyle H.

Lyle H. Prey, age 88, of New London, died early Sunday morning, November 21, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Residence under the care of Affinity Hospice. Lyle was born on December 1, 1921, in Clintonville, son of the late Otto & Pearl (Weir) Prey. On April 13, 1946, he was united in marriage to Mary Wood at Carmel Chapel of Margam Castle in Port Talbot, Wales. Mary preceded him in death in 2002. Lyle drove milk truck for Bordens for many years and was also employed by Neenah Foundry for 25 years. He proudly served his county in the U.S. Army during WW II. Lyle loved to play Sheepshead at Lathrop’s Cabin. He is survived by four sons, Jeff Prey (New London), Rod (Janet) Prey (New London), Brad (Tambi) Prey (Nekoosa), and Tim (Terri) Prey (New London); two sisters, Dorothy Kuntz (Arizona) and Arvis Thompson (Oshkosh); nine grandchildren, Corey, Amy, Bryon, Todd, Jamie, Nathan, Ashley, Kyle, and Michelle; nine great-grandchildren, Kyler, Brady, Madelynn, Reed, Bennett, Chloe, Owen, Cael, and McKenzie; as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Lyle was preceded in death by his wife; son, Greg; four brothers, Ralph, Bob, Harvey, and Wayne; sister, Beth; and daughter-in-law, Dale Prey. A funeral service for Lyle was held at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London, on Wednesday, November 24, 2010. Family and friends called at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 4 until 7 p.m., and again directly at the church Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial was at Floral Hill Cemetery, New London, where military rites will be held.
