Waupaca man charged with sexual assault of a child

Christopher J. Triolo, 38, Waupaca, was charged Nov. 22 in Waupaca County Circuit Court with felony sexual assault of a child and felony bail jumping.

Triolo is also scheduled to go to trial on Dec. 14 in Outagamie County on a sexual assault charge. The Outagamie County case is more than 3 years old.

Triolo was charged on Aug. 20, 2007, with third-degree sexual assault that allegedly occurred in November 2003 and involved a 9-year-old girl.

On July 7, 2009, he entered an Alford plea, which means the defendant does not admit guilt but does not contest the charges.

On Sept. 9, 2009, Outagamie County Judge Mitchell Metropulos sentenced Triolo to five years in state prison. Triolo then withdrew his plea and successfully appealed the case, which is now set for a jury trial.

On Nov. 21, Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputy Clint Thobaben spoke with a 14-year-old girl who said Triolo had touched her inappropriately the previous day.

At the time of the alleged incident in the town of Dayton, Triolo had been released from custody on a $5,000 signature bond after being charged Oct. 18 with felony bail jumping in Outagamie County. A condition of his bond was that he have no contact with juveniles under the age of 18.

Triolo faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a child.
