Lady Trucks’ rally falls short

A furious comeback bid came up short for the Lady Truckers as they lost to the Little Chute Mustangs on Thursday, Dec. 16, by a score of 49-51.

The girls were behind the entire contest but they staged a furious comeback with a chance to win the game as time ran out. They pulled within one point with 16 seconds left on a Nikki Kautz 3-pointer, then they fouled Little Chute on the inbound and sent them to the line. The Little Chute player made one of her free throws and Clintonville got the gall back with eight seconds left. A traveling call on Nicole Paisar sealed the deal and Clintonville lost 49-51.

Clintonville outscored Little Chute 12-10 in the opening frame but fell behind 21-29 at halftime. Little Chute expanded their lead to 42-28 after three quarters, but Clintonville stormed back by outscoring Little Chute 21-9 in the fourth quarter, nearly completing the comeback.

Nichole Paisar led the Lady Truckers with 18 points. Erin Peeters scored 12, while Nikki Kautz added 11. Stacy Reinke chipped in four, and Erin Richter and Steph Klegin each scored two.
