Waupaca Lioness Club meets monthly

The Lioness Club provides community service opportunities for its members.

Among the group’s projects have been the Alzheimer’s Walk donation, the Red Cross blood drive, three scholarships for continuing education, working with local groups such as Creative Caring Hands, the Waupaca Area Food Bank, the Iola Old Car Show and the health fair, as well as providing Christmas gifts for Tomorrow’s Children, the reading program at Healthy Beginnings, the fly-in raffle and bake sale, the triathlon potato bake and working as ushers for the community spring concert.

Lioness Club works with the Waupaca School District to provide an emergency fund for children in need, backpack and school supplies, vision and hearing tests and the International Peace Poster Contest.

As part of the Waupaca Book Festival, Lioness purchased 70 books by author Amy Rosenthal for elementary teachers and libraries.

The local club also works with the international Lions organization on the Eye Bank, Lions Pride, Camp Hope, hearing research and other projects.

The club meets at 6 p.m. on the third Monday of each month, for dinner, a business meeting and an occasional program.
