Bulldog boys top Indians

In a rather odd non-conference matchup in Boys hoops the Bulldogs topped Weyauwega-Fremont 43-37 last Tuesday.

New London got out to a hot start holding the Indians to 14 points in the first half. Weyauwega went on a run late in the game but New London held the lead and earned the victory.

Despite only three players scoring for Weyauwega-Fremont Kyle Loughrin topped all scorers pacing the way for the Indians with 26 of the teams 37 points, Calvin Swanson added 10.

New London was led by Tyler Listle with nine points and Jason Wenzel with six. Ten of 14 Bulldog players scored. New London evens up at .500 (4-4) while Weyauwega falls to 2-4.

History

This was also New London’s eleventh victory over Weyauwega-Fremont as the two schools once had a big rivalry back in the 1970’s. Both schools played in the East Central Conference from 1970-1973 and took a one-year hiatus when Weyauwega moved to the CWC then it picked up until 1978 when New London moved to the Bay Conference.
