“Buzz Saw” Bob Halverson is carving the next Vidar statue in Iola.
This carving of Vidar (Norske for “wooden warrior” and “lumberjack”) ski jumping will be located at the Iola Winter Sports Club complex just north of Iola. Last week, Halverson completed the carving. Now it will be sanded and stained, then placed on a boulder near the chalet.
The original Vidar carving, located on State Street one block east of Main Street in downtown Iola, features skis on his back.
