Waupaca County sheriff’s report

The following reports are from the call records of the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department.

Traffic

?Jan. 1 – Seven people were injured in a three-vehicle crash around 4:30 a.m. in the town of Scandinavia.

Jeffrey J. Douglas, 36, Iola, was northbound on State Highway 49 when his Chevy Cavalier broke down and he pulled over onto the east shoulder.

Douglas flagged down a passing pickup truck driven by Jennifer Wogsland, 28, Iola. She pulled in behind the disabled car and turned on her flashers, according to police.

A short time later, a third vehicle, a pickup, driven by William V. Rosenthal, 35, Iola, struck Wogsland’s truck from behind, which in turn collided with Douglas’ car.

Wogsland suffered serious injuries and required emergency medical transport.

Four members of Douglas’ family were also in his vehicle at the time of the crash. According to police, they may have suffered injuries, but did not require emergency medical treatment.

?Dec. 31 – One person was injured in a crash at 6:30 p.m. in the town of Waupaca.

John R. Guerin, 44, Manawa, was southbound on County Road E when his entered the west shoulder, overcorrected, lost control and went into the ditch, overturning his vehicle. He was transported from the scene by ambulance.

?Dec. 27 – One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 10:30 a.m. in the town of Weyauwega.

Tary J. Sass, 35, Eden, was driving a semi eastbound on U.S. Highway 10 when he changed lanes, colliding with a Toyota Rav4 driven by Judith A. Sweet-Rydberg, 60, Tomahawk.

The car was knocked into the median and Sweet-Rydberg required emergency medical transport.

Burglary

?Jan. 1 – A resident of the 1300 block of Berlin Street, Waupaca, reported that someone broke into his storage unit and stole more than $1,500 worth of tools, welding equipment and a diagnostic scanner for cars.

?Dec. 31 – Someone kicked in the back door of a home on the E800 block of Mynard Road, Waupaca, and stole a money box.

Theft

?Jan. 2 – A guitar was reported stolen from a home on the N1300 block of Holmnlane Road, Waupaca.

?Dec. 31 – A resident of the 600 block of Wallace Street, New London, reported the theft of an ice auger from his car.

?Dec. 31 – A resident of the E8000 block of Stage Road, New London, reported that change and several CDs had been stolen from his car.

?Dec. 31 – A resident of the 700 block of Ware Street, Waupaca, reported that someone stole two checks from her checkbook and cashed them at the truck stop.

Fraud

?Dec. 29 – A Clintonville man reported that he purchased a Netbook online, paid for it with his credit card, then learned the website was fraudulent after not receiving his merchandise.
