Vargas returns to court

Eddie C. Vargas, 17, New London, was charged Jan. 4 with four counts of felony bail jumping, four counts of misdemeanor bail jumping, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Between July 2 and Aug. 16, 2010, Vargas was cited four times for operating a vehicle with a revoked license.

On Aug. 17, Vargas appeared in Waupaca County Circuit Court on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. He was released from custody on a $5,000 signature bond with the condition that he not commit any crimes, not operate a vehicle and not possess any weapons.

On Sept. 23, Vargas was charged in Winnebago County for causing injury while driving drunk. He was released on a $2,000 cash bail.

On Oct. 26, Vargas failed to make a scheduled court appearance in Waupaca and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Nov. 8, Vargas appeared in court and Judge Raymond Huber set a $1,000 cash bond. The following day, Huber amended the cash bond to $200 and Vargas was released from custody.

On Dec. 21, Vargas allegedly sold $50 worth of marijuana to a police informant.

On Dec. 23, officers with the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department and the New London Police Department executed a search warrant at the apartment where Vargas was staying. They reported finding cocaine, marijuana and a handgun in Vargas’ bedroom.

Vargas faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the cocaine charge.
