Bulldog grapplers take first in DePere

The New London Bulldog Wrestling team took a prestigious first place in the DePere Duals Saturday, Jan. 22.

The Bulldogs defeated Kewaunee 45-13 in the first round, then defeated DePere 38-33 in round two and defeated West DePere 52-24 in round three.

Individual results:

In round one Jake Close (112 pound) pinned Ken Hower in 5:38. Brett Handschke (152) pinned Andrew La Crosse in 2:46. Trevor Strong (215) won by major decision 10-2, over Adam Kuehl. Andrew Ritchie (285) won by technical fall 16-1 over Joe Lafevre. Texas Herter (119), Kevin Urban (103), Tyler Brandt (145) and CJ Anderson (160) all won by forfeit.

In round two Jake Close (112) pinned Josh Bonness in 1:42. Tyler Brandt (145) defeated Bobby Guns with a 4-3 decisn. Brent Handschke (152) won by technical fall 18-2 over Elmer Acebedo-Soto. CJ Anderson (160) defeated Andrew Bush by technical fall 16-0. Austin Postel (171) defeated Aaron Norwood with a major decision 17-6. Trevor Strong (215) won by a 6-3 decision over Isaiah Hayes. Andrew Ritchie (285) pinned Larry Nitka in 1:17. Kevin Urban (103) pinned Stephanie Sobleskey in 3:02.

In round three Texas Herter (119) pinned Ari Reed in 1:20. Andrew Moser (135) pinned Keith Diederich in 0:48. Tyler Brandt (145) won a major decision 10-1 over Matt Vandenavond. CJ Anderson (160) pinned Jason Smits in 3:50. Austin Postel (171) pinned Gage Dessart in 3:04. Trevor Strong (215) pinned Matt Bjork in 1:47. Andrew Ritchie (285) pinned Peter Shimek in 0:49. Kevin Urban (103) pinned Greg Martin in 0:16 seconds.
