Ferg, Frederick G.

Frederick G. Ferg, age 93, formerly of Rosholt, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Sylvan Crossing in Stevens Point. Frederick was born in the Town of Little Wolf, Manawa WI. on September 29, 1917, the son of the late Fred G. and Theresa (Eschenbach) Ferg.

Fred married Agnes Madson on November 10, 1945 in Rosholt, Wisconsin. She died June 2, 2009.
Fred moved to Rosholt as a small child, attendiing Rosholt area schools and later graduating from the UW-Madison Farm Short Course. Fred and Agnes operated a pick-your-own strawberry business for 25 years and a registered Holstein farm for 35 years on the family homestead until retiring in 1979. He had one of the first registered holstein herds in the Portage County. Fred served in the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) in Northern Wisconsin. He was proud of his work in the Chequamegon National Forest in the Crandon/ Laona area planting trees, creating parks and building bridges. Fred was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He was very interested in politics, the economy and the lessons learned growing up during the depression. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and following their activities. He is survived by: Daughters: Joyce (Dan) Olson Sheboygan Falls Ruth (Timm) Voltz Omro Son: Richard (Krystal) Ferg Rosholt Grandchildren: Chanda Olson of Milwaukee, Wendy Olson of Milwaukee, Eric Olson of Sturgeon Bay, Justin (Melissa) Ferg of Rosholt, Jenessa (Scott) Oberstadt of New London, Jolynn (Stephan) Wucherer of Wey auwega, Kaitlin (Adam) Spierings of Weyauwega, and Kassandra (Jon E.) Krasselt of Oshkosh. Great Grandchildren Ian and Reid Oberstadt, Jon Krasselt III, Olivia Ferg, Lucas Wucherer. Sisters-in-law: Beatrice (Roger) Carlson and Gloria Madson both of Elderon. Brother-in-law: Lee Wolff Wittenberg He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Fred was also preceded in death by a son; John Ferg, and three brothers: Alfred, Edward , and Joseph Ferg and their wives. Funeral services will were on Saturday, January 22, 2011 @ 11:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Rosholt. Friends called on Saturday form 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in the Concordia Lutheran Cemetery in Rosholt. Voie Funeral Home of Iola is in charge of arrangements.
The family would like send special thanks to the caregivers of Sylvan Crossing, Dr. Jayasingha and Laurie Kostka, NP for the excellent care Fred received over the past two years while a resident there. Thanks also to the staff of the Iola Living Assistance for their kindness over the years for Agnes and Fred. In addition, the family would like to thank Ministry Hospice for their assistance during Fred’s final days and the staff of the Emergency Department and 2nd floor inpatient unit at Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital for their patience and compassion during each hospitalization.
