Trucker girls stop Foxes

The Lady Trucker varsity basketball team earned a 42-39 win over the Fox Valley Lutheran (FVL) Foxes on Thursday, Jan. 27, showing just how much the team has improved since losing to FVL by a score of 42-74 back in December.

Clintonville led 16-15 at halftime and outscored the Foxes 18-10 to take a nine-point lead into the fourth quarter. FVL outscored Clintonville 14-8 in the final frame, but couldn’t quite catch the Trucks, watching them roll to a 42-39 victory.

Nichole Paisar led the Lady Truckers with 13 points. Nikki Kautz and Stacy Reinke each added eight, while Steph Klegin scored five and Erin Peeters added four. Markiesa Westphal and Erin Richter both added two points to the scoring column.

Clintonville shot 17-of-46 from the field (36 percent) but struggled from 3-point range, shooting just 21 percent from beyond the arc. Clintonville also had to overcome 21 turnovers while forcing just seven steals.

The Lady Truckers will face Winneconne at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, in their next home game.
