Batten, Wayne V.

Wayne V. (John) Batten, age 91, of King, WI., formerly of Waupaca, passed away on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011 at Wisconsin Veterans Home-MacArthur Hall, King. He was born in the Town of Farmington, Waupaca Co., WI., on September 4, 1919, a son of the late Martin and Gertrude (Durrant) Batten. Wayne served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He worked for the Wisconsin DNR from 1948 until 1974. Survivors include his Nephew: Ken (Brenda) Batten, Waupaca, WI; Great Niece: Regina (James Smith) Marsden; Great Nephew: Doyle (Lorie) Batten; Great Great Nieces and Nephews: Jakke Batten, Alyson Marsden, Andrew Marsden, Dawson Marsden and James Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister – Violet, Mrs. Albert Grove, and 3 brothers – Melvin (Jack) Batten, Selmer Batten and Melford Batten. Funeral Services were held at Wisconsin Veterans Home-Main Chapel, King, at 11 AM on Monday, February 28th, 2011, with Chaplain Rich Engle officiating. Interment was in the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Town of Farmington, Waupaca Co., WI. Visitation was held on Monday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the Main Chapel. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
