Bemis, Thomas L.

Thomas L. Bemis, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Riverside Medical Center in Wau-paca. He was born on July 17, 1952 in Big Springs, TX. the son of Donald and Alice (Clapps) Bemis. After graduating in 1970 from Mt. Horeb High School, Tom proudly served in Vietnam with the U. S. Air Force. Upon returning to WI. after the service, Tom was employed with Rural Insurance for over 18 years before joining Christensen Home Decorators, doing what he enjoyed most. He was a “jack-of-all-trades”, always helping a friend in need with any remodeling project that needed to be done. Tom had a variety of interests including the outdoors, fishing, and his motorcycle. He had a special place in his heart for animals and especially loved listening to music. Tom will be remembered for his great sense of humor, living life to its fullest and being a dependable and reliable friend. He is survived by his children, Christin (Steve Bogost) Bemis of Waunakee, Kate (Lonnie) Sanderson of Beaver Dam and Jake Bemis of Waunakee; his grandchildren, Raina, Quinn, Jack and Charlie Bogost and Isabel, Ashley and Dylan Sanderson; his mother, Alice Bemis of Mt. Horeb; his brother Gordon of Scandinavia, WI.; his sisters, Romona (Jimmy) Fedderly of Arkansas and Joan (Tom) Laufenberg of Madison; his former wife, Marian Brunner Bemis and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father Donald in 2005. Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 19, 2011 with military honors to follow. Private family committal services will be held at the Central WI. Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday.
