Outlaws to return to Shawano Speedway on Wednesday, Aug. 3

After a successful visit to Shawano Speedway in 2010, the World of Outlaws Dirt Late Model Series will make a return trip to the Speedway in 2011, on Wednesday, Aug. 3.

Once again, the race date leads into the USA Nationals weekend at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond. This should again help draw more late models to the show. The World of Outlaws Late Model feature at Shawano Speedway will be 50 laps and pay $10,000 to the winner.

Dale Hodkiewicz, race director for Shawano Speedway, said the decision to have the Series make a return trip to Shawano Speedway was mutual between the Speedway and the World of Outlaws organization.

“There were an awful lot of people who said, ‘Let’s do it again,'” Hodkiewicz said. “They were enthusiastic about it. They said they’d love to see the show come back. We thought it went well. The World of Outlaws people were more than happy to come back. They thought it was great so it was just a combination of everything, so why not try it again.”

According to Hodkiewicz, just like it was last year, the infield pit area will be empty to create optimal viewing for spectators from the grandstand.

“No matter what we have to do we will keep the infield empty,” Hodkiewicz said.

IMCA Stock Cars will replace the IMCA Modifieds as the support class for the event.

“The Stock Cars are a great group of racers and they support the track every week and we thought this was an opportunity to give them higher pay and reward them for being supportive of the track on a weekly basis,” Hodkiewicz said.

With the huge crowd that attended the show last year, Hodkiewicz is recommending that fans buy their tickets early in order to make sure they get the seats they want. He said plans are already in the works to make the concession area better in 2011. Other fan friendly events are also being discussed at this time to enhance the experience of spectators at the show.

Tickets will once again be $25 per ticket and can be purchased by calling 715-526-7069 or 715-584-0819.
