Three Waupaca hockey players on Team Wisconsin

Three hockey players represented Waupaca High School as members of Team Wisconsin.

Senior Brad Navin of the U18 Team has committed to the University of Wisconsin, freshman Natasha Smith played on the Girls’ Division U14 squad and freshman Jared Erickson played on the Boys’ Division U14 team.

All three were members of State Tier I Championship teams earlier this month in Madison and advanced to the Central District Playoffs March 18-20 in Fond du Lac for an opportunity to move on to the USA Hockey National Tournament.

Team Wisconsin is a collection of the best high school hockey players that call Wisconsin their home. The teams are referred to as “before and after” because all games and practices are only conducted before and after the high school season.

All three participated in the successful Waupaca Comet hockey team that advanced to sectionals for the first time in team history this past season.

The trio, along with most of the high school team, are alumni of the Waupaca Area Youth Hockey Association program that has prided itself with a long tradition of producing some of the best players in the state.
