Kite Flying Contest Set

On Saturday April 30th, the Clintonville Park and Recreation Department will be sponsoring its 37th annual kite flying contest, starting at 10 am at Bucholtz Park, south of the red granite parking lot. The contest will be headquartered at the open shelter in that area. Entry forms, including all necessary information are available at local school offices, City Hall and the Park and Recreation Department office. Participants can also complete entry forms the morning of the contest at Bucholtz Park. Awards will be presented in the following categories and age groups: highest flying kite, largest flying kite, smallest flying kite and most original (homemade) flying kite; 6 and under, 7-9, 10-12 and 13 and older. First through fourth and participant ribbons will be awarded. Also, a “Kite Flying Family of the Year” plaque will be presented to the family with the most family members present and participating in the event, with at least one parent present. Hot chocolate, cookies and other treats will be available during the event, which is open to all area residents at no charge.
