Haney, Mae C.

Mae Catherine (Nee Uelmen) Haney, 93, entered eternal life on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Brewster Village, Appleton, Wis.. She was a former resident of New London, Wisconsin. Mae was born in the Town of Rolling, Langlade County, Wisconsin, on February 28, 1918, the daughter of Frank Uelmen and Mary Lenzner. She graduated from Antigo High School in 1936 and Mercy School of Nursing, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in 1939. On February 25, 1943, she married Abner G. Haney in Idaho. He preceded her in death on December 7, 1999. She was employed at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Appleton, Wis., New London Community Hospital and St. Joseph’s Residence, New London. She was a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London. Mae was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include three children: Daniel (Mike Diestler), Green Bay; Joyce (the late William) Levenhagen, Neenah; and James, Plover, Wis.; two grandchildren: Troy (Julie) Levenhagen, Appleton; and Lynn (Adam) Swoverland, Neenah; one great-grandchild, Joseph Levenhagen, Appleton; two sisters: Germaine (Lawrence) Schetter, Summit Lake, Wis.; and Lucille (the late Raymond) Anderson, Richfield, Minnesota; her sister-in-law, Gertrude Uelmen, Kimberly, Wis.; four nieces and nine nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Francis Uelmen, Kimberly, and Louis (Gretchen) Uelmen, Antigo; and her son-in-law, William Levenhagen, Neenah. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London. Father David Lewis will officiate. Friends called at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial was in Most Precious Blood Cemetery, New London. A memorial fund has been established.

Mae’s family would like to thank all her wonderful caregivers and the dedicated staffs at Valley VNA, Appleton Retirement Community and Brewster Village. We shall remember your loving support and outstanding care.
