Mendoza, Victoria C.

Miss Victoria Christina Mendoza, of Waupaca, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at her home from a lifelong battle with Merosin Deficient Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. Victoria was born on July 11, 1994 , in Waupaca, the daughter of Daniel Mendoza and Tarina Swanson. Victoria was a student at Waupaca High School, but remained at home for the last year, due to her illness. Victoria’s fragile body has kept her from doing many things that require physical strength. But, the kind of strength, that Victoria exhibited, came from an omnipotent source. One that is Holy and Profound. One that masters the human body, conquers the intellect, and illuminates the soul. God, Our Father, has rescued her from a twisted and wasted body, to an Empire of Holiness. To a new body clothed in virtue and purity. Survivors include her Parents: Tarina (Edward) Swanson, Waupaca; Daniel Mendoza Sr., Saxeville; Sisters: Anna; Saprina; Augustina and Olivia; Brothers: Danny, Jr. and Noah; Maternal Grandfather: Larry Sanders, Waupaca; Paternal Grandfather: Pedro Mendoza Sr., San Antonio, TX; Nephew: Zavier Mendoza. Also a host of loving aunts, uncles and cousins further survive. She was preceded in death by a brother Antonio in 1999, maternal grandmother – Janet Sanders and her paternal grandmother – Maria Mendoza. To honor a life that has impacted many, Victoria’s Family Home will be open on Friday, April 29th, 2011, from 6 until 8 PM. There will be a bonfire to warm you, food to nourish you, and company to uplift you. Following the wake on Friday evening, a candlelight walk to Brainerd’s Bridge is planned, honoring all children who have died battling disease. A hymn will be offered; rising in the night sky, gathering light from the stars as if weaves its way upward toward Heaven. A lovely funeral service will be held the following morning at Faith Community Church. The Service will begin at 11 A.M., on Saturday, April 30, 2011. A horse drawn hearse will escort the funeral procession to Lakeside Cemetery for the committal service and double burial for brother and sister. All are invited to return to Faith Community for a splendid luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Victoria Mendoza Benefit at Community First Credit Union. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
